Among the four basic pillars of Islam,
one is Hajj that is very important to perform for Muslims who afford it.
Holy Prophet (PBUH) described Islam in the following words:
“Islam means that you openly state that there is no god except Allah, and Muhammad (PBUH) is the Messenger of Allah; establish the prayer, pay Zaka’at; fast during the month of Ramadan and offer the Hajj of the House of Allah if you are able to afford journey to it. (Muslim, No: 8)”
All Muslims are aware of the significance of Hajj but still many people have many misconceptions about the procedure of Hajj. We are providing Hajj guide that explains how to perform Hajj in Urdu. This is going to be a series of articles that will cover almost all the major aspects of Hajj and its elements.
Process of Applying for Hajj:
Two kinds of schemes are offered for the people who want to perform Hajj. One is Government scheme and the other one is the private one. Every year, few months before Zil-Hajj, Ministry of Hajj & Aukaf of Pakistan invites applications from the people who desire to perform Hajj. This is because of the limited amount of people are allowed to go for pilgrimage every year. Then Ministry of Hajj sorts out the applications and divides the eligible applicants into groups. Further facilities are provided as per the demands of the applicants. Pilgrims are strictly instructed to follow Saudi customs and policies. They are not allowed to take any dangerous weapon with them and the restricted edibles include sweets, biscuits, sugar, flour, video or audio cassettes etc. In addition, the pilgrims are not allowed to work there.
There is always a number of Hajjis who do not wish to go with government plans and want better privileges. For this they have to travel through private agencies and Hajj planners. These travel planners are also registered from the Government of Pakistan. These private agencies offer different packages of Hajj varying in facilities and make all the required arrangements. Nevertheless, compared to the government plan, it is more expensive and also unreliable is some cases.
Do keep a look a look out for the advertisements of inviting Hajj applications in news channels and newspapers.
